- Synopsis
- This image shows a map of India and the countries and parts of the countries that surround India. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left of the page when the image is the correct way up. There is a small key at the bottom of the page. The map is surrounded by an image border. India is in the centre of the page surrounded by a thick line. In the top of the page are mountains. There is a mass of hills in central India. The Indus River starts near the top centre of the page and goes up and left in the mountains. It then goes down and left into Pakistan. Halfway along it is joined by some tributaries. The Ganges River starts in the mountains just down from the start of the Indus. It goes left then down as it leaves the mountains. It curves right and down. Some tributaries join it from the central hills and one joins from the edge of the mountains. It goes right and into Bangladesh where it goes down and right. It then breaks into lots of smaller rivers forming a large delta. The Brahmaputra River starts in the mountains in the top right of the page. It goes to the right and curves down the page. Then it goes left and smaller tributaries join it. It turns to go down the page and into Bangladesh. It then breaks into lots of smaller rivers forming a large delta with the Ganges. The Mahana River starts in the centre of the map and goes right ending in a small delta. A small unnamed river goes parallel to it. The Godavari River starts in the left centre of India quite near the coast. It goes right and just after leaving the hills two tributaries join it. It then goes right and down ending in a small delta. The Krishna River also starts in the left centre of India quite near the coast and just down from the start of the Godavari River. It goes right with two tributaries joining it in the hills. The Cauvery River starts in the bottom tip of the hills and goes down and right to a delta. There are two unnamed rivers which start in the upper centre of the mass of hills. They go left entering the sea close to each other. These are the only rivers that come from the central hills that flow into the Arabian Sea. All the others go east into the Bay of Bengal. There is a north arrow in the bottom right corner of the page.
