- Synopsis
- This page shows a map of Britain with a small key. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left, when the image is the correct way up. There are five types of farming shown. There is a key in the top right of the page explaining the types. They are in bands running north-south. This is because the west is wetter, windier, cooler and has milder winters. The land is often high with steep slopes and thin soil. The farming is extensive. The east is more sheltered with less rain, warmer summers but colder winters. The land is flatter with deep soil. The farming is intensive.
