- Synopsis
- This page shows two images of drainage basins. There is a cross section at the top of the page and a plan view at the bottom of the page. Each image is surrounded by an image border. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left of the page when the image is the correct way up. The cross section view shows three hills, one to the left, one in the centre and one to the right of the page. They each form a watershed. Between them is a valley with a river at the bottom. The image at the bottom of the page shows two drainage basins side by side. In each the water flows from smaller tributaries into a main river which then flows into the sea at the bottom of the page. The watershed, the high point where water flows down one side or the other, is marked by a heavy dotted line.
