- Synopsis
- This page shows a cross section image of waves. The image is surrounded by an image border. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left of the page when the image is the correct way up. The seabed goes from the left to the right at the bottom of the page. It gets higher towards the right which is in the direction of the beach. There is a wave crest on the left of the page. A second wave is centre right and a part of a third wave is on the right of the page. There are three pairs of circular arrows at the bottom of the page, one on the left, one in the middle and one on the right. They show that as the waves move to the right the rising sea bed causes increasing friction, which means the waves start to fall forwards and will eventually break, tumbling down onto the beach. The crest, trough, length and height are all labelled.
