Our research and observations suggest that successful networkers build their networks by developing close relationships with work colleagues, professional communities and associations and virtually, through social and professional networking sites, referrals and references from friends or colleagues.The behaviours of a successful networker are often social. Successful networkers may be considered to be gregarious; when you observe them, it becomes clear they build relationships through empathic connections, being respectful, purposeful and reciprocal relationships that are founded on principles such as 'do as you would be done by'.Individuals respond to the word network in different ways. However you respond to the word, networks can make the difference for you personally and professionally.
