- Wohin bewegt sich die Alterspsychotherapie? - Eine Frage, die aufgrund der demographischen Entwicklung von größter Bedeutung ist. Der Band antwortet darauf mit einem aktuellen Überblick über die zu erwartenden Entwicklungstendenzen und nimmt eine Standortbestimmung vor. Im ersten Teil werden die demographischen und psychosozialen Bedingungen, die die Grundlage des zukünftigen Bedarfs psychotherapeutischer Leistungen für ältere Menschen sind, dargestellt. Im zweiten Teil präsentieren die Autoren die theoretischen Ansätze, die gegenwärtig Verwendung finden. Diese Therapieansätze beruhen auf der Vorstellung einer lebenslangen psychischen Entwicklung, die auch im Alter zu behandlungsbedürftigen Störungen führen kann. Darüber hinaus werden verhaltenstherapeutische und systemische Ansätze vorgestellt, ihr Entwicklungsstand beschrieben sowie Zukunftsperspektiven diskutiert. Als dritter Teil folgt die Erörterung geschlechtsspezifischer Einflüsse sowie im abschließenden Teil die Erörterung psychotherapeutischer Erfahrungen in unterschiedlichen Settingbedingungen. Damit liegt erstmals ein umfassendes Bild des gegenwärtigen Kenntnisstandes und der Entwicklung des Fachgebietes vor.
