- Im Zentrum des Buches von Dirk Jörke steht der enge Zusammenhang von Philosophie und Demokratie bei John Dewey. Der Autor skizziert dabei zwei zentrale Thesen. Die erste These besagt, dass sich dann eine neue und bessere Lesart des Gesamtwerkes von Dewey ergibt, wenn man den Begriff der ‚Erfahrung' in das Zentrum der Werkinterpretation stellt. Die zweite These knüpft hieran an und demonstriert die besondere Produktivität dieser Lesart für die demokratietheoretische Diskussion. In Auseinandersetzung mit den Hauptsträngen der gegenwärtigen politischen Theorie wie Liberalismus, Kommunitarismus und deliberative Demokratie wird die Aktualität und partielle Überlegenheit von Deweys Demokratietheorie aufgezeigt.
