- Das Buch untersucht die Situation der Familie unter den Vorzeichen von Migration und Globalisierung. Bezogen auf die Bundesrepublik rückt dabei die Situation der Einwandererfamilien bzw. der Familien mit Angehörigen aus ethnischen Minderheiten in den Mittelpunkt. Familie im Spannungsfeld globaler Mobilität: Vor dem Hintergrund globalisierter Gesellschaften gewinnen lebensweltliche Orientierungen und wertbestimmte Gruppen an Bedeutung. Dies betrifft den Lebensstil genauso wie die Familie, Wir-Gruppen und Milieus. Für ethnische Minderheiten allerdings gerät diese Entwicklung zur Modernisierungsfalle. Benachteiligt und diskriminiert, ohne wirkliche bürgerliche Rechte, ohne ausreichenden Zugang zu Ausbildung und Arbeit verändert sich der Charakter dieser aktuellen lebensweltlichen Entwicklung. Aus dem Projekt "persönlicher Lebensstil und Neugestaltung des privaten Lebenszusammenhanges in Familie und "Wir-Gruppe" wird das Projekt "unfreiwilliger Rückzug in die ethnische Minorität und Abschottung der Familie als Notgesellschaft". So werden ethnische Minderheiten konstruiert und dauerhafte gesellschaftliche Brennpunkte geschaffen.
