Die Rolle des Controllers als Kontrollinstanz wird mit Hilfe hierarchischer Principal-Agent-Modelle analysiert. Im Ergebnis kann der Controller die Service- und Kontrollfunktion ausschließlich in integrierter Form effizient wahrnehmen. Hieraus ergeben sich praktische Konsequenzen für die Organisation des Controllings.
