Serviceorientierte Architektur: Architekturprinzipien und Umsetzung in die Praxis (Business Engineering)

by Roger Heutschi

by Rüdiger Zarnekow Axel Hochstein Walter Brenner

Services Computing for Language Resources (Cognitive Technologies)

by Yohei Murakami Donghui Lin Toru Ishida

Describing the technologies to combine language resources flexibly as web services, this book provides valuable case studies for those who work in services computing, language resources, human–computer interaction (HCI), computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW), and service science. The authors have been operating the Language Grid, which wraps existing language resources as atomic language services and enables users to compose new services by combining them. From architecture level to service composition level, the book explains how to resolve infrastructural and operational difficulties in sharing and combining language resources, including interoperability of language service infrastructures, various types of language service policies, human services, and service failures. The research based on the authors’ operating experiences of handling complicated issues such as intellectual property and interoperability of language resources contributes to exploitation of language resources as a service. On the other hand, both the analysis based on using services and the design of new services can bring significant results. A new style of multilingual communication supported by language services is worthy of analysis in HCI/CSCW, and the design process of language services is the focus of valuable case studies in service science. By using language resources in different ways based on the Language Grid, many activities are highly regarded by diverse communities. This book consists of four parts: (1) two types of language service platforms to interconnect language services across service grids, (2) various language service composition technologies that improve the reusability, efficiency, and accuracy of composite services, (3) research work and activities in creating language resources and services, and (4) various applications and tools for understanding and designing language services that well support intercultural collaboration.

Services in Wireless Sensor Networks: Modelling and Optimisation for the Efficient Discovery of Services (Advanced Studies Mobile Research Center Bremen)

by Markus Becker

In recent years, originally static and single purpose Wireless Sensor Networks have moved towards applications that need support for mobility and multiple purposes. These heterogeneous applications and services demand for a framework which distributes and discovers the various services, so that other pieces of equipment can use them. Markus Becker studies, extends, analytically models, simulates and employs the so called Trickle algorithm in measurements in a Wireless Sensor Network test bed for the service distribution. The obtained results apply to the application of the Trickle algorithm at lower protocol layers, e.g. for routing, as well. Given application delay requirements, the author derives the realizable distances and number of nodes for two network topologies from the 95 percentiles obtained by simulation.

Session-Based Recommender Systems Using Deep Learning

by Reza Ravanmehr Rezvan Mohamadrezaei

This book focuses on the widespread use of deep neural networks and their various techniques in session-based recommender systems (SBRS). It presents the success of using deep learning techniques in many SBRS applications from different perspectives. For this purpose, the concepts and fundamentals of SBRS are fully elaborated, and different deep learning techniques focusing on the development of SBRS are studied. The book is well-modularized, and each chapter can be read in a stand-alone manner based on individual interests and needs. In the first chapter of the book, definitions and concepts related to SBRS are reviewed, and a taxonomy of different SBRS approaches is presented, where the characteristics and applications of each class are discussed separately. The second chapter starts with the basic concepts of deep learning and the characteristics of each model. Then, each deep learning model, along with its architecture and mathematical foundations, is introduced. Next, chapter 3 analyses different approaches of deep discriminative models in session-based recommender systems. In the fourth chapter, session-based recommender systems that benefit from deep generative neural networks are discussed. Subsequently, chapter 5 discusses session-based recommender systems using advanced/hybrid deep learning models. Eventually, chapter 6 reviews different learning-to-rank methods focusing on information retrieval and recommender system domains. Finally, the results of the investigations and findings from the research review conducted throughout the book are presented in a conclusive summary. This book aims at researchers who intend to use deep learning models to solve the challenges related to SBRS. The target audience includes researchers entering the field, graduate students specializing in recommender systems, web data mining, information retrieval, or machine/deep learning, and advanced industry developers working on recommender systems.

Set Functions, Games and Capacities in Decision Making (Theory and Decision Library C #46)

by Michel Grabisch

The book provides a thorough treatment of set functions, games and capacities as well as integrals with respect to capacities and games, in a mathematical rigorous presentation and in view of application to decision making. After a short chapter introducing some required basic knowledge (linear programming, polyhedra, ordered sets) and notation, the first part of the book consists of three long chapters developing the mathematical aspects. This part is not related to a particular application field and, by its neutral mathematical style, is useful to the widest audience. It gathers many results and notions which are scattered in the literature of various domains (game theory, decision, combinatorial optimization and operations research). The second part consists of three chapters, applying the previous notions in decision making and modelling: decision under uncertainty, decision with multiple criteria, possibility theory and Dempster-Shafer theory.
