Among organizations devoted to mathematics education, The International Commission on Mathematical Instruction (ICMI) is distinctive because of its close ties to the mathematics community. The great challenges now facing mathematics education around the world demand a deeper and more sensitive involvement of disciplinary mathematicians than we now have, both in the work of educational improvements and in research on the nature of teaching and learning. This book constitutes the Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Mathematical Education (ICME9), which was held in Tokyo/Makuhari Japan, in July and August 2000. ICME9 brought together experts from 70 countries, working to understand the challenges of mathematics education including boundary crossing and collaboration, such as the need to reconcile language, epistemology, norms of evidence and, in general, all of the intellectual and attitudinal challenges that face multidisciplinary research and development.

This is an open access book.The rapid enhancement of digital and communication technologies over the last decade has been transforming well-being research and positive psychology practice. This trend initiates an emerging research area known as positive technology (Gaggioli et al., 2019). Positive technology (PT) is defined as “a scientific approach to the use of technology to transform and optimize individuals’ quality of personal experience with a focus on promoting wellness and cultivating strengths and resilience in individuals, families, and organizations, and in the community at large” (Botella et al., 2012: p. 78). By integrating positive psychology theories with human-technology interaction, the framework of PT (Riva et al., 2012) emphasizes on enhancing emotional quality (hedonic), engagement/actualization (eudaimonic), and connectedness (interpersonal). During the COVID-19 pandemic, the potential of PT has been explored to enhance the hedonic, eudaimonic, and interpersonal experiences to support psychological well-being of human beings through reducing the mental burden challenged by the pandemic and its huge economic, psychological, and social impacts (Riva et al., 2020). Thus, the Positive Technology (PT) International Conference 2023 will focus on the theme of “Positive Technology: Possible Synergies between Emerging Technologies and Positive Psychology”, and welcomes paper presentations that share and discuss empirical-based and evidence-based research, practice, implementation, and applications on PT.

This is an open access book. The Mongolian National University of Education has successfully organized the "Quality Assurance in higher education" International Conference for 16 consecutive years since 2016. The scope of this conference grows year to year, increasing in quality and participants. Furthermore, in 2018, the conference website was launched (www.qahe.msue.edu.mn) and started partnering with sponsor organizations. A total of 33 papers will be discussed at the plenary and three sessions of this conference named "Education Quality Policy and Implementation," "Innovation of Teaching and Learning Technology and Contemporary Trends," and "Teaching and Learning Technology Implementations and Outcomes." There are five poster presentations. The research volume on high education quality and its relevant disciplines has increased. We hope that the conference will contribute experiences and knowledge about policymaking and research worldwide.

Digital technologies permeate our lives. We use them to communicate, research, process, record, and for entertainment. They influence the way we interact in the world, the way we live. Digital technologies also offer the potential to transform the nature of the learning process in mathematics. Prodigality, Liberality and Meanness: The Prodigal Son in Graeco-Roman Perspective (The Library of New Testament Studies #187)

This monograph interprets the parable of the Prodigal Son (Lk. 15.11-32) in the light of Graeco-Roman popular moral philosophy. Luke's special parables are rarely studied in this way, but the results of this study are very fruitful. The unity of the parable is supported, and it is shown to be deeply concerned with a major Lukan theme: the right use of possessions. The whole parable is read in terms of the moral topos 'on covetousness', and shown to be an endorsement of the Graeco-Roman virtue of liberality, modified by the Christian virtue of compassion.
