Diese Studie beleuchtet den historischen und ideengeschichtlichen Hintergrund der seiner Geistphilosophie zugehörigen Staats- und der von ihr untrennbaren Geschichtstheorie Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegels (1770-1831), um darauf dessen Konzept des Staates und der Staatenwelt ausgehend von seinen theoretischen Grundlagen darzustellen und zu diskutieren. Methodisch kommt innerhalb eines positionsbeziehenden, aber grundsätzlich beschreibenden Konzeptes eine Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaft, respektive Historiographie, Philosophie und Politologie verbindende Herangehensweise zur Anwendung, deren wichtigste Instrumente diejenigen der (ideen)geschichtlichen und ideologiekritischen Aufklärung der Zusammenhänge der politi-schen Philosophie Hegels sind. Diese Entfaltung des hegelschen staats- und geschichtsphilosophischen Ge-dankenganges bis zu seinen Stellungnahmen zu den Fragen der internationalen Politik begreift sich nicht nur als Beitrag zum internen Fortschritt der genannten gesellschaftswissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, der nament-lich darin besteht, dass eine umfassende Erschließung Hegels aus den genannten Perspektiven eine Novität darstellt, sondern will darüber hinaus auch die gegenwärtigen Debatten etwa um die so genannte „Globalisierung“, d.h. der Entgrenzung der Nationalökonomien und der sich hieraus ergebenden Chancen, Heraus-forderungen und Probleme mit den diesbezüglich erwägenswerten Vorstellungen eines Klassikers des neu-zeitlichen Denkens stimulieren.
