Back to Delphi
by Ioanna KarystianiLinos has been granted a five-day furlough from prison, where he is serving a life sentence for murder. His mother has decided to take him to Delphi. A few days spent in that magical place, she thinks, might distract him from his awful fate. She also hopes that this brief time together might be a chance for them to repair what has become a damaged relationship. To that end, she has a difficult revelation to share with her son: ten years earlier, it was she who led the police to him; she is responsible for his arrest and imprisonment. Over the course of five days, as mother and son watch the magnificent ruins of Delphi, matters concerning Linos's childhood that have been buried for decades resurface. This ambitious and magnificent work of literary fiction is a return to the origins of Greek tragedy, a story about guilt and innocence, about the monsters that lurk even in everyday life, and about the complex relationship between mothers and their sons.

Jack is excited to start his first year there and to begin shaping young minds in a beautiful new location on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. But Heather View isn’t as idyllic as it first sounds. In fact, it looks more like a prison than a primary school. With less than adequate funding and a head teacher who doesn’t seem to care, it's no easy task to give the kids the education they deserve. But Jack’s determined to do just that. Full of warmth and good humour, Back to School is like taking a nostalgic walk through the past to a simpler time...Praise for Jack Sheffield'Wry observation and heartwarming humour in equal measure' Alan Titchmarsh'Overflowing with amusing anecdotes' Daily Express'Amusing adventures at the North Yorkshire village school' Choice'Jack Sheffield's in a class of his own' York Press

Back to the Futurists: The avant-garde and its legacy
by Elza Adamowicz Simona StorchiIn 1909 the Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s Founding Manifesto of Futurism was published on the front page of Le Figaro. Between 1909 and 1912 the Futurists published over thirty manifestos, celebrating speed and danger, glorifying war and technology, and advocating political and artistic revolution. This collection of essays aims to reassess the activities of the Italian Futurist movement from an international and interdisciplinary perspective, focusing on its activities and legacies in the field of poetry, painting, sculpture, theatre, cinema, advertising and politics. The essays offer exciting new readings in gender politics, aesthetics, historiography, intermediality and interdisciplinarity. They explore the works of major players of the movement as well as its lesser-known figures, and the often critical impact of Futurism on contemporary or later avant-garde movements such as Cubism, Dada and Vorticism. The publication will be of interest to scholars and students of European art, literature and cultural history, as well as to the informed general public.
