Architecture has played a very important role in colonization of the society and the earth, and today we have the urgent task to crack the theory and practice of this same Architecture. We can achieve this only by working collectively towards reframing concepts that has been at the centre of a dominant universalist western knowledge creation. Rethinking and reframing the ideals of community, participation, commons, agency, design, and land, this book puts forward a collective effort to shift the centre of architectural thinking and practice, and create as many ways possible to understand our role as architects today. We acknowledge unrecognized practices by bringing back everyday-life experiences, different paths and forms of knowledge production and storytelling that inform our understanding of architecture. The book also discusses the general equipment that go along with tourism. This includes facilities for garbage collection and disposal, rest rooms, refreshment stands, and directional signs. The town of Ennis is used as a case study where the recommendations under the classification of general equipment can be used. For color and materials, the book examines the nature of the Irish landscape and presents the findings into diagrams and graphic terms. The text then describes the visual quality of the landscape, particularly those areas that are not readily recognized or identified as pleasing. The book is useful for city planners, tourist officials, tour operators, students of environmental planning and design, and administrators of local or rural places who wish to develop their tourism potential.

Democratic regulators, unable to meet citizens’ demands for tangible, fast and gratifying returns, are seeing the poorest results ever recorded in terms of interest, engagement and retention, despite using the most cutting-edge technologies. This book explores various aspects of the relationship between democracy, technology and entertainment. These include, on the one hand, the role that digital technology has in strengthening our collective intelligence, nurturing empathic relations between citizens and democratic institutions, and supporting processes of political aggregation, deliberation and collaboration. On the other hand, they comprise the challenges accompanying digital technology for representation, transparency and inclusivity in democratic decision-making. The book’s main argument is that digital democratic spaces should be redesigned to narrow the gap between the expectations and outcomes of democratic decision-making. Beyond lines on maps, however, borders are spatial zones in which distinctive architectural, graphic, and other design elements are deployed to signal the nature of the space and to guide, if not actually control, behaviour and social relations within it. This volume unpacks how manipulations of space and design in frontier zones, historically as well as today, set the stage for specific kinds of interactions and convey meanings about these sites and the experiences they embody. Frontier zones organize an array of functions to facilitate the passage of goods, information, and people, and to define and control access.
