Internationaler Politiktransfer und nationaler Politikwandel: Ausbreitung und Effektivität des Umweltaktionsprogramms in Mittel- und Osteuropa

Und welche Rolle spielen internationale und nationale Faktoren in diesem Transferprozess? Diese Fragen beantwortet Ralf Nordbeck, indem er die Umsetzung des internationalen Umweltaktionsprogramms für Mittel- und Osteuropa in 22 mittel- und osteuropäischen Staaten untersucht. Die Vielfalt nationaler Anpassungsreaktionen reicht dabei von der erfolgreichen Übernahme der Politikinnovation bis hin zur Verweigerung des Politiktransfers. Anhand einer Kombination von makro-qualitativer Analyse (fsQCA) und vier detaillierten Fallstudien werden die kausal relevanten Bedingungen identifiziert, die über den Erfolg eines nationalen Umweltaktionsprogramms entscheiden: der umweltpolitische Innovationswillen der Akteure, die strukturelle Innovationsfähigkeit und die Qualität des umweltpolitischen Planungsprozesses.

Als Instrumente des Employer Brandings analysiert die Autorin Stellenangebote global handelnder amerikanischer Konzerne, die von 2015 bis 2016 eine Niederlassung in Polen und in Deutschland hatten. Sie vergleicht diese mit Stellenangeboten lokal handelnder polnischer und deutscher Unternehmen, um die länderspezifischen Unterschiede auf der Makro- und Mikroebene zu identifizieren. Die Autorin fokussiert sich zunächst auf Schlüsselwörter, die im Rahmen des Konzepts /passion at work/ pragmalinguistisch analysiert werden. Um deren Auswirkung auf die potenziellen Bewerber zu untersuchen, wurden polnische und deutsche Studenten nach der Interpretation der in den Stellenangeboten markierten Schlüsselwörter gefragt.

The case studies in this centenary volume analyse the relationship between global workers’ organisations and the new ideological confrontation between liberal capitalism, socialism and communism since the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. Workers’ organisations, trade unions in particular, grew in importance and managed to organise internationally, forming alliances cemented by ideology and sustained by international institutional bodies or centrals. In the nascent capitalist versus communist struggle, trade unions thrived. Is it mere coincidence that today’s decline of unionism coincides with the end of ideological antagonism? This book emphasises important global labour issues such as gender as well as international workers’ histories from Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Internationalism and the New Turkey: American Peace Education in the Kemalist Republic, 1923-1933 (Modernity, Memory and Identity in South-East Europe)
by Erik SjöbergThis book examines international education in Turkey after World War I. In this period, a movement for peace and international education among American educators emerged. This effort, however, had to be reconciled with the nationalist projects of new nation-states emerging from the war. In the case of the Near East that meant coming to terms with the radically nationalist modernization project of Kemal Atatürk’s Turkish Republic. Using the case of Robert College, an American educational institution in Istanbul, which aimed to foster a future local elite of a multi-ethnic and multi-religious student body, the book sheds light on the negotiation between two conceptions of modernity, as represented by American internationalist ideals and the tenets of Kemalism the Westernizing, yet deeply ethnocentric national ideology of post-1923 Turkey. Based on recently declassified archival sources, this study addresses the educational intentions and strategies for adjustment of college faculty. It also offers a rare insight into the mindset of young students attempting to make sense of what internationalism and religious, ethnic and national identity meant in the Ottoman past and in the new republican Turkey. Focusing on Robert College and the forgotten case of its dean and social studies instructor, Dr. Edgar Jacob Fisher, it addresses the little-researched field of internationalism and peace education in interwar Turkey.
