Copyright Licencing Agency
Since 1983, the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) has been the recognised UK coll ective rights licensing body for text and images from book, journal and magazine content.
They provide rights, content and licensing services to customers in the academic, professional and public sectors. They perform collective licensing on behalf of the Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society Ltd. (ALCS) and the Publishers' Licensing Society Ltd. (PLS) and other copyright owners.
With streamlined workflow systems and over 30 years’ experience in our core markets, they help customers access, copy and share the content they need. And make sure copyright owners are paid the royalties they are due.
Digital Content Store
Whilst the titles in the RNIB Bookshare are complete works the Copyright Licence Agency (CLA) service, Digital Content Store (CDS), provides access to part works and also allows you to share your partial scans with other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
The system combines a searchable repository of digitised book and journal extracts with an online workflow management tool. With the DCS, you’ll be able to:
- Verify ownership
- Check permissions
- Eliminate census reporting
- Automate requirement checks
- And share and use content from other HEIs
